WHATS XWHOIS?

Xwhois is a small and fast query tool for the whois service. (rfc954)
It has been compiled and tested on the following platforms:

	Linux 2.x ix86
	SUN Solaris 2.6 SPARC
	SUN Solaris 2.5.1 SPARC
	Digital Unix OSF1 V4.0D Alpha
	Silicon Graphics IRIX 6.3 IP32
	Silicon Graphics IRIX 5.3 IP20
	OpenBSD 2.3 ix86
	NetBSD 1.3.2 ix86
	FreeBSD 2.2.7 ix86
	HP-UX 10.20 PA-RISC

It should build and run fine on most UNIX flavors.

Xwhois is distributed under the GNU General Public License.
See the COPYING file for details.

INSTALLING

Xwhois requires the GTK+ toolkit 1.0.x, latest GTK can be found at,
	ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v1.0/

*NOTE* Xwhois will only work with stable GTK+ releases, and I wont fix it for
1.1.x until it's merged into the 1.0.x branch, becoz I have to keep it 100%
stable on many diffrent platforms and architectures.

	To build xwhois run:

	make

	After compiling, to install:

	as superuser (root):

	make install

	or as local user:

	cp xwhois.servers $HOME/.xwhois.servers

USAGE

Chose whois server from the list and type in the domain, name or the keyword you
want information about in the object field and hit enter or press the submit button.
If you for some reason want to use a external whois client chose it in the menu.
